Wonderful Friends

This week marks the beginning and the end of a sweet time spent with our great friends the Horns. They will be packing up and heading out to their new home in Columbia, SC. Darrin is now the head coach of the University of South Carolina basketball team. We are so proud of them and while we hate to see them go, we know that God has called them to this place at this very time. We have no doubt that they will take this blessing and glorify God every step of the way.

As the saying goes, "Friends come and friends go, but the mark they leave on our hearts is forever." This is so true. We are FOREVER changed by the friendship that the Horn family has brought us. The love we have for one another and the love our children have for each other make us FAMILY. We are loving that our children are now asking what a gamecock is and wanting to sport SC colors!

Don't expect us to stay away too long...Carla, you know we love a good reason to come south and you provide a PERFECT excuse. Get our guest room ready!

We will miss you deeply,

The Richeys & Wilsons

Sittin' Pretty

Here is a great idea for custom seating for your kiddos. How cute would these be on your back porch? Our dear friend Carla already had the chairs and wanted to personalize them with a bit o' paint and some inspiration from her sweet children. Now they will enjoy sitting on the deck even more with their own personal space!

Ribbon All Around

Here is a great DIY project!

1. Start with a simple grape vine wreath.
2. Buy LOTS and LOTS of your favorite ribbons that will match the room you are putting it in. You do not have to use all wire ribbon, but incorporating some throughout will help the wreath keep the shape.
3. Flowers (hydrangea) were added to this wreath, but you don't have to.
4. Cut your ribbon in 12 inch lengths or longer.
5. Tie the ribbons around the individual vines until it is "full". This will take awhile so you might want to put in a movie and sit in the floor for this part!
6. Hot glue the flowers on.
7. Enjoy!

Lots of Dots

Here is a picture of my nieces wall in her room. Isn't it cute?? I bet you think that her mom painted all those dots don't you?

Here is my sister's clever idea: Go to your local sign shop and ask them to cut out dots in any size out of vinyl. They have the adhesive on the back and you can get a sheet of 10 dots for about $8. COOL!

Time Changes Things

Ok...I couldn't resist posting this. On a recent trip to my childhood home, I pulled in the driveway to find my dad dripping wet. I didn't need to ask him what he was doing, or if he had fallen in a pool, I KNEW what was going on...he had been cleaning out the garage again. This act of decluttering my parents house is often followed by the cluttering of his children's homes. See, what comes from his house, goes to ours. Years of moving from college dorms, to apartments, to houses after marriage has left lots of "junk" in their garage.
However, this time, we found a huge box of old pictures and documents from dad's past. This particular one that I am posting on had us laughing until we cried. This was a piece of paper that was sent home with dad after his 5-6 month visit to the doctor. If this was how we are to take care of our babies now, I REALLY messed up. Hope you enjoy the read! See how you would stack up as a parent if you had to follow these rules.
* Another funny fact: My dad was an only child and I love how his mom wrote his name at the top as to not get his chart confused with all the other children she had! HAHA!

Favorite things:
1. Cod Liver Oil?
2. Orange Juice and Tomato Juice and Egg Yolks at 5 months?
3. Sun baths (except on hot days) and long naps outdoors if weather permits? HELLO!!
4. 6:20 Bedtime with the windows open?

If Walls Could Talk

If your walls could talk what would they say? Well, we think all walls should have something very interesting to talk about...or at least the people that are looking at your walls. So this is a great way to add personality and color (if you choose)to those drab and boring walls that are staring back at you...and it's so easy. We knew you'd like to hear that. There are some great looking papers available these days so take advantage. Get some that coordinate with one another and your decor then you can simply scotch tape them to the backside of the mats that come with the frames you find. You could also use spray adhesive...you know, if you've got any lying around. The frames could be found at the usual suspects: Wal-Mart, Target, or craft stores. Be sure and find a frame you really like. If the paper is too large for your frame you can always cut them down to something smaller...be sure to use a straight edge though. Your walls are sure to say something now!!

400 Mile Yard Sale

Okay bargain hunters and yard sale junkies...the time has arrived. Tomorrow (june5) kicks off Kentucy's largest yard sale. For four days and 400 miles you can sift through someone else's stuff and then buy it at an unbelievable price...WOW! The sale runs through June 8 and stretches along Kentucky's historic highway 68...right through our beloved little town of Bowling Green. This is great...I mean, people come from all over the country for this. There are miles and miles of great finds...furniture, glassware, toys, tractors (if any of you are in need)...you name it, you can probably find it. So get moving bargain hunters...put on your sneakers, your fanny packs loaded with lots of cash, gas up those cars and get busy shopping!!! We'd love to hear if anyone is going to attend and maybe what good finds you get!! One man's junk IS another man's treasure...AMEN!

Blessings,

Amy and Rachel

They are killing me!

Ok... how long has Starbucks been selling coffee with chocolate whipped topping?? They are killing me!! If just seeing their sign on my drive home was not tempting enough, today when I pulled through the drive-thru I saw the new addition to the menu board and thought... you have to be kidding me, no way, not doing it! If I never try it, I will never be "whipped" by their new marketing ploy. I am sure it is delicious but I am holding out for a Starbucks Ice Cream store. I am telling you, it will be here before we know it!
